Primary Area of Cardiovascular Research Interest

-Macrophage migration inhibitory factor in atherosclerosis

Related Areas of Cardiovascular Research Interest

-Inflammatory chemokines and chemokine receptors

Summary of Cardiovascular Research Interest

A proinflammatory cytokine, macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), is implicated in atherosclerotic patients with chronic autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Our research interests are on the molecular mechanisms and regulation of MIF in atherosclerosis. To achieve these goals, we employ multidisciplinary methods, including X-ray crystallography and label-free cell-based assay.
